Douglas LaVern Adelmund, age 69, or Nora Springs, Iowa, was born the son of William and Minnie (Wiebrand) Adelmund on June 2, 1939, Allison, Iowa. He received his education from a rural country school near his home.
On June 2, 1961, Doug was united in marriage with Ruth Gallmeyer at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville.
They made their home in Clarksville where Doug worked as a farm hand. Through the years they lived in the communities of Gladbrook, Reinbeck, Grundy Center, Aplington, Waverly, Northwood and Cedar Falls where he retired in 2000. They moved to Nora Springs in 2005.
Doug was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. He enjoyed researching genealogy with his wife Ruth and putting together their family trees. He enjoyed being outdoors and working for many different farmers.
Doug died Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at the Nora Springs Care Center of natural causes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: William, Jake, Abbie and George Adelmund; and four sisters: Susan Adelmund, Allene Bakker, Ruth Leyen and Suzie Syhlman.
Doug is survived by his wife, one sister, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Redman-
