JAMES J. OBERBILLIG

James J. Oberbillig, 71, of 1659 Camden Court, Manitowoc, died Wednesday, September 7, 1988, at the family residence.


Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Jeff VandenHeuvel with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.


Mr. Oberbillig was born May 15, 1917, at Chilton, son of the late James J. and Mary Millay Oberbillig Sr. He graduated from Chilton High School and was employed at Vollrath Company in Sheboygan, retiring as Marketing Manager Consumer Sales in 1962. Mr. Oberbillig was awarded the Vollrath Company President's Ring for distinguished service. He was previously employed at JC Penney Company at Manitowoc, Paragon Electric Company and David Douglas Company. He married the former Irish Minahan on October 18, 1939, at Chilton. Mr. Oberbillig was a member of Elks Club, charter member of Manitowoc Yacht Club, member of Manitowoc Golden K Kiwanis Club and Holy Innocents Catholic Church.


Survivors include his wife, Irish; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Patrick J. Oberbillig of Newton, Jack and Marianne Oberbillig of Milwaukee and Michael Oberbillig of Wauwatosa; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary Luther of Manitowoc, Cheryl and Jim Thompson of Bettendorf, Iowa, Kathy and Bruce Fleischmann of Manitowoc and Jean and Anthony Mazzoleni of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren, a niece, a nephew, along with other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen in 1941 and a sister, Jane Martin.


Friends may call at Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Thursday. Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon William Klein. Memorials may be made to North End Hospice HomeCare Program or for masses.
