E. A. OBERLAND DIES, AGED 61
Former Businessman and Sportsman To Be Buried Monday
Emanuel A. Oberland, 61, former business man and sportsman, who in late years has been engaged in the summer resort business in northern Wisconsin, died here early today. He had been seriously ill for two months.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m., from the Frazier mortuary. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Born in Bohemia
The deceased, who was born at Vykam, near Prague, Bohemia, in 1874, came to Manitowoc with his parents when a boy. He was educated in the city schools and engaged for years in the wholesale liquor business in Manitowoc under the name of the E.A. Oberland company. He, with his brother Edward, operated an establishment on Washington street.
A few months before prohibition became effective in 1919, Mr. Oberland closed the liquor store. The following year he entered the resort business. He con-structed several cottages at Lac du Flambeau in Vilas county which he operated the past 16 summers. Mr. Oberland maintained his home in this city at 851 North Eighth street, where the family spends the winter months.
Widow Survives.
Mr. Oberland was a sportsman who followed hunting and fishing and was a member of various conservation groups in the city and county. He also was an enthusiasartist (sic) bowler and billiard player.
In 1904 the deceased was married in this city to Miss Emma Kresl. The widow survives with a son, Edward, Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Gustave Luttringhaus, Elizabeth, N.J.; a brother, Edward, city; three sisters, Emelie, Rose, and Mrs. Charles Bouril, all of this city; and a grandchild, Pauline Ann Luttringhaus.
The body is at the Frazier mortuary and may be viewed there until the hour of the funeral.
