EDWARD J. O'DONNELL
(1906 • 1923)
SAD DEATH OF YOUNG SON OF M.J. O'DONNELL
The community was shocked Saturday night by news of the death of Edward J. McDonnell, son of Mr. and Mrs. M.J. O'Donnell, who passed away at the hospital at a time when it was thought that he was recovering after an attack of pneumonia.
The boy, who was 17, was taken to the hospital Feb. 1 suffering from pneumonia but had passed the crisis and was thought to be out of danger when Saturday afternoon he suffered a relapse. His heart was affected and his weakened condition made the fight an unequal one and death came with the new attack.
Born in this city January 25, 1906, Edward had just passed his 17th birthday. He was a sophomore at the high school, a member of the Latin Club and the Holy Name society of Sacred Heart church and of Troop 7 of the Boy Scouts and held merit badges as a scout. He was popular with his young companions and his untimely death is deeply deplored.
Besides his parents, who reside on North Sixth street, three sisters Genevieve, Marion and Florence survive.
The funeral will be held Tuesday morning from Sacred Heart church, the Rev. Luby officiating.
