LIME COMPANY FOUNDER DIES
Henry Oestreich, Kossuth Farmer, Succumbs Monday Evening


Henry Oestreich, 79, founder of the Rockwood Lime company and who for many years was engaged in farming in Kossuth, died suddenly at his home several miles northwest of the city Monday evening.

Mr. Oestreich had not been in the best of health the past few months but was fairly active about the farm. Last night he was stricken with a heart attack and died shortly after.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:15 pm. from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home and at 2 o'clock from the Evangelical Lutheran church at Rockwood, the Rev. Edward Zell officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. Oestreich was born in West Prussia, Germany, in 1857. When a boy of eight he accompanied his parents to America. The family located in Kossuth. He founded the Rockwood Lime company, which he continued to operate for many years. When he disposed of these properties Mr. Oestreich purchased a farm in Kossuth which he has since occupied. Fifty-six years ago he married Helene Bruss. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary six years ago.

Survivors are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Henry Korthauer, city; three sons, Gotfried, Milwaukee, Herbert, City, and William on the home farm; a brother, William, New York city; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Conrad, Menominee, Mich.; and a grandchild, Jo Ann Oestreich.

The body may be viewed at the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home.
