Edna Holte, 90, of Vista, passed away Wed, July 25, 2012, at home with her family surrounding her.

Edna was a native of Lamar, Colorado and moved to California in the early 40's. She went to work during WWII at North American Aviation, the Los Angeles Division, in the tool crib, and there she met her husband, Anfin (Art)Holte. Because gas was in limited supply, friends gave them gas ration coupons so they could drive to Big Bear Lake for their honeymoon. They moved to Inglewood, CA and there they raised two daughters.

Edna later worked for the Automobile Club of So. CA for 25 years. She worked as a travel agent. She retired in 1979 with her husband and moved to Vista.

Edna was an avid reader and had a passion for researching the family history, which she did prior to computers. She wanted to be sure that her genealogy research would be passed on to the next generation so they would always remember where they came from.

She loved to have her friends and family over to her home and engaged in great conversations at the dining room table.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Jennifer and Chuck Kerr of Kingman, AZ,,grandchildren, Brian Bruns of Concord, CA, Jennifer and Scott Youngren of Fallbrook and many g grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Anfin Holte; her parents Frederick and Lilly(Longworth) Avery of Lamar, CO; brothers Harold and Robert Avery; sisters Frances McCorkle and Ruth Campbell.

Graveside services will be held Wed, Aug 1, at 12:30 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA. 92054

Mom and I always talked and she was worried, that when she died, nobody would put flowers on her grave. With this cemetery, they plow down the flowers every week, so the best time to put flowers is on a Friday. Please, put flowers on my mother's grave. She was a wonderful woman and I miss her so much.

I m so lucky to follow in my mother's footsteps. She always took great care of herself, having her hair done every week, clothes meticulously ironed, everything in place, a great cook and housekeeper, and a smart mom who knew so much about everything. I miss her so much, but carry on her quest for genealogy and finding out about the families who came before us. Thank you mom so much for all of the hard work you did, without the aid of computers. You gave me so much because of your family sheets and I continue in your behalf in the quest for our families from long. And the last conversation I had with mom when she was alert, I told her I loved her, and she told me she loved me too!

God looked around His garden And He found an empty place. He then looked down upon this earth And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful; He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering. He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered "Peace be thine". It broke our heart to lose you, But you did not go alone. For part of us went with you The day God called you home.
I still miss you mom, today 4-11-2022. I miss you, and having to share our genealogy finds. I am kinda empty and feel so sad. Not the same without you here. I am sad.

Mom and Dad are both buried in Garden of Meditation, Block 9, Crypt 1 A/B.
