BREWER, BEN RAY, 86, of Louisville, passed away at home November 20, 2010.
He was born in Huntingdon, TN. Ben said, "Make no small plans." He was the former president of the Baptist healthcare system from 1984-88. He described his 34 years in healthcare administration as "the best job I ever had." He served as a leader and member in numerous local, state and national civic organizations. He authored and published two extensive genealogy books. He was an encourager, friend, Christian and active member of Hurstbourne Baptist Church.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Mary Laverne (Herndon); son, Steve (Julie) and grandsons, Jack, Jeff and Joey; son, Jeff (Kimberly) and granddaughters, Meg and Anne; brother, Paul (Mary); and sister-in-law, Jenny Brewer.
Funeral is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hurstbourne Baptist Church, 8800 Shelbyville Road, with interment in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 3-8 p.m. at Pearson - Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243.
