He was born July 10, 1921, in Auglaize County to Frank and Clara Frankenburg Schweitzer, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 5, 1947, he married Eulalia M. Wachauf, who survives.
Mr. Schweitzer was a lifelong farmer and retired from Auglaize Farmers, Uniopolis, after 26 years. He was a lifelong member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Rhine. A World War II veteran with the U.S. Army Air Forces, he was a member of the American Legion Post 330, Wapakoneta. His hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, woodworking and gardening.
Survivors also include two children, Barbara (Robert) Prueter, of New Knoxville, and Ronald (Lynn) Schweitzer, of Wapakoneta; and four grandchildren, Mark Prueter, and Sarah, Ann and Nathaniel Schweitzer.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Richard, Alfred, Father Leander and Victor Schweitzer, Hilda Koenig, and twin infant sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Rhine. The Rev. Daniel Hunt will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Fryburg.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuessday at the Long & Folk Chapel, 13 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta.
