JOHN ORDING

(1865 • 1941)


John Ording, 75, county resident for 70 years, died Saturday night at the Holy Family hospital. Ill six weeks at his home, 1220 South 17th street, Mr. Ording was moved to the hospital last Monday, following a stroke.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at two o'clock from the First German Evan. Lutheran church, the Rev. L. K. Koeninger officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.


Mr. Ording was born in Hanover, Germany, and when a boy accompanied his parents to America. The family located at Cooperstown. He took up farming when a young man and in 1902 married Miss Alvina Ullman. In 1907 he moved to Zander to establish a store. Disposing of the store in 1925 he came to this city. He was employed for several years at the Wiese and Welch plants here.


Survivors are the widow; five sons, Edward, Harry, Alvin, Elmer, and John Jr., all of this city; daughter, Mrs. Carl Jergenson of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Knutson, Ms. Anna Knutson, Mrs. Mary Schultz, Mrs. Arthur Reimer, all of Gibson.


The body was moved to the Ording home this afternoon from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home and may be viewed there until the hour of services.
