Elmer J. Ording, 74, of 409 S. 30th Street, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, May 29, 1991.


Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First German Evangelical Lutheran church. Rev. Arno J. Wolfgramm will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.


He was born April 30, 1917, in the township of Gibson, Manitowoc County, son of the late John P. and Alvina Ullman Ording. He grew up in Manitowoc and attended Manitowoc Schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1935. He worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1977. Mr. Ording served with the United States Army during World War II, serving overseas. He married the former Rose Marie Dornaus on November 6, 1945, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, former member of the male choir of the church, former member of the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra for 19 years, former member of Clipper City Chordsmen and also a member of Amvets Post No. 99 of Manitowoc.


Survivors include his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Cheryl Ording of Glendale, Wis.; two granddaughters, Sara and Elizabeth Ording; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Berdine Ording of Manitowoc, John and Adelaide Ording of Manitowoc; a sister, Adeliade Jergenson of Manitowoc; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Harvey.


Friends may call at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 11:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of service. Memorials would be appreciated to First German Evangelical Lutheran Church.


Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei Funeral home assisted the family with arrangements.
