Estele Orr, 71, of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, a retired school teacher, died early Sunday morning at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital where he had been a patient the past week.


Christian Science services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Erwin Fanta will conduct the services and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.


Mr. Orr was born Dec. 29, 1887, son of the late Franklin and Lottie Mason Orr, Kokomo, Ind., and attended school through the high school level there. He was graduated from Valparaiso University with a PhB (sic) degree and then served in France with the armed forces in World War I. After the war he studied at the University of Nancy in France and at the University of Chicago upon his return home. For several years he was principal of the high school in Hobert, Ind.


In 1925 he married the former Elizabeth Marquardt, a Manitowoc teacher and rural school supervising teacher, and they lived at 1428 S. 12th St., Manitowoc. He then taught at the Vocational Schools at Manitowoc and Milwaukee and was a substitute teacher in mathematics and science in the Manitowoc public school system in Manitowoc for many years. During World War II he went to work at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Co. Inc., where he continued to work until his retirement in 1952 when he bought the farm on the Two Rivers rural route. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.


He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. Uriel (Edith) Garey of Manitowoc; sister, Mrs. Vear Brindle of Barlow, Fla.; and two brothers, Otis Orr of Roanoke, Ind., and Lester of Miami, Fla.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. An infant son, John, two sister and a brother preceded him in death.


Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
