On August 14,1933 Mary Taylor and Alex McGowen welcomed a baby boy into the world in Coldspring, Texas, they named him Lee Junie McGowen. He attended school at Coldspring Lincoln High and later in life became a respectful and hard working man. Lee joined church and devoted his life to Christ at an graceful age. He was an active member under the leadership of Pastor Frank L. Mason, Jr., Spring Hill Baptist Church in Coldspring, Tx until his health begin to fail him in 2012. On July 23, 2012 his race was finished. In addition being preceded in death by his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister:Mr. Eugene McGowen and Ms. Lilly Mae Reece. Lee McGowen leaves to cherish his memories his wife of eight years;Sebrena McGowen;3 sons:Barry McGowen of Shepherd, TX, Douglas Reece of Coldspring, TX and Jawann Giddens of Huntsville, TX; 3 daughters:Mary Manuel of Coldspring,TX,Tewaska Giddens of Cleveland,and a special daughter Andrea Giddens "Cole" of Point Blank, TX; 4 sister in laws:Henrietta Giddens of Cleveland,TX, Mary Giddens of Point Blank, TX, Lavonda(Charles) Burrell of Kingwood, TX and Georgia Mae McGowen of Coldspring, TX. 1 brother in law, Patrick Giddens of Point Blank, TX; lifetime friends:Ezzard Haywood and Arthur J. Phipps; 14 grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
