Lester P. Oswald, age 81, formerly of 5121 Stone Road, Whitelaw, Wis., died Thursday morning, August 24, 1995, at Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc.


Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 26, 1995, at 9:30 a.m. at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Reif Mills. Rev. Theodore Hendricks will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.


He was born October25, 1913, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Joseph and Emma Kliment Oswald. He grew up in the township of Manitowoc Rapids and attended the Branch Grade School and also Lincoln High School. Lester worked for ten years at the Whitehouse Milk Company, Manitowoc. In 1942, Lester and Hilda started farming in the township of Kossuth until retiring in 1975. He married Hildegarde Bleser June 25, 1936, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1986. She preceded him in death October 3, 1986. Lester enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and trapping. He sold Pioneer Seed Corn for many years. Lester was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis Creek.


Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Oswald, rural Manitowoc, Thomas and Barbara Oswald, rural Whitelaw; six grandchildren, Debbie and her husband Larry Carey, Appleton, Renee and her husband Larry Beck, Minnesota, Kevin and his wife, Kiara Oswald, Stevens Point, Kate and her husband Mark Zielinski, Whitelaw, Matt and Michael Oswald, Whitelaw; five great grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Carey, Lauren and Ashton Beck, Adam Zielinski; two sisters, Gladys Glaser, Manitowoc, Geraldine Haycraft, Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Carl Bolle, Kellnersville, Agnes and Sam Oswald, Kellnersville. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.


Friends may call at the Saur Funeral Home, from 5-8 pm. on Friday (TONIGHT). There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 pm led by Rev. Ted Hendricks.
