Mrs. Lester (Hilda) Oswald, 72, of 5121 Stone Road, Whitelaw, died Friday morning, October 3, 1986 at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay.


Funeral services will be 9:30 am Monday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville and 10 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Reif Mills. Rev. Donald Schneider will officiate, assisted by Rev. John Haen. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.


Mrs. Oswald, nee Hildegarde Bleser, was born February 16, 1914, Town of Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late John and Rose Andres Bleser. Mrs. Oswald was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, graduating with the Class of 1932. Mrs. Oswald attended the former Manitowoc county Normal School and taught in rural schools for 4 years. She married Lester Oswald on June 25, 1936 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple farmed in the Town of Kossuth. Mrs. Oswald was a member of St. Mary Altar Society of St. Augustine Church.


Survivors include her husband, Lester; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Oswald of 6720 Homestead Road, Manitowoc and Thomas and Barbara Oswald of 4927 Stone Road, Whitelaw; a sister and a brother-in-law, Agnes and Henry Oswald of Reif Mills; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gladys Glaeser of Manitowoc, Geraldine and Goeffrey Haycraft of New Mexico and Carl Bolle of Route 1, Whitelaw and six grandchildren also survive, Debbie and Larry Carey of Appleton, Renee and Larry Beck of Minnesota, Kevin Oswald of rural Manitowoc and Kate, Matthew and Michael Oswald of rural Whitelaw. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lester.


Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home from 4 pm to 9 pm Sunday and Monday until the hour of service. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm Sunday evening by Father Schneider and St. Mary Altar Society. Memorials may be made to the Heart Association.
