Police Probe Death of Man

MANITOWOC—Authorities were still investigating at noon Monday circumstances surrounding the death Saturday of Raymond C. Overlee, 52, of 907A Chicago St. City police were notified at 7 p.m. when Manitowoc Ambulance Service removed Overlee to Holy Family Hospital where he was dead on arrival from a skull fracture.


Overlee suffered the fatal injuries after falling through the entranceway at the Chicago Street address, according to police.


Mr. Overlee was born May 12, 1914, at Genoa, Ill., son of the late Conrad and Minnie Schnorr Overlee. He married Bernice Kerscher at Manitowoc, Aug. 29, 1942. He was employed as a bartender at Badger Hotel and was a veteran of World War II, serving from January 1943, to December, 1945, as a private first-class in an anti-aircraft unit.


Survivors include his wife, a son, William, at home, two daughters, Mrs. James (Barbara) Garrigan, of Killeen, Texas, and Cheryl Ann, at home; two brothers, Albert of Genoa and Donald, of Tacoma, Wash., two sisters, Mrs. Helen Edwards, of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Vera Mitchell of Yakima, Wash., and two grandchildren.


Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, by American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88 and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.


Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
