Husband of Mayme Daniel.
Omaha, NE. Police Detective who died in the line of duty on 1-31-1924 at 1402 South 16th street, S.A. Beranek Drug Store, while attempting to arrest an armed robber, identified as Joseph Guswesezc "aka," Joseph Savage & Joseph Dunn.

"Gloom filled the halls and offices at central police station last night. Only the irresponsible 'drunks' who were dragged in at intervals failed to catch the significance of the solemnity." That black atmosphere hung heavy after the death of Det. Frank Aughe, an 18-year veteran of the force. Aughe and several other detectives were scouring the area around South 16th Street, looking for a "highwayman" who'd robbed a pharmacy on South 24th Street, taking $10. As they drove back toward the station, they saw Joseph Dunn, who fit the description of the robber. Dunn ducked into another pharmacy, and the car stopped, detectives piling out and following Dunn inside. A struggle ensued: Dunn, armed with a revolver, grappled with Aughe, muscling the detective into a shield from his fellow lawmen. As the two struggled, Dunn pressed his gun into Aughe's chest and emptied it. Dunn was quickly apprehended, and a crowd surrounded him, "threatening to take the prisoner away, a few clamoring that he be lynched." He later told police they could just take him out back and shoot him, he had nothing to live for. Aughe, 49, who died on the spot, said his last words to Det. Billy Davis: "I'm done, Billy, but I'm glad we got him." Detective Frank Sylvester Aughe,,,,was shot 6 times by Joseph Dunn.
