Mary Susan was the only child born to Marion & Martha (McGlathery) Nobles. Her mother died when she was 2 weeks old. Her father served in the Civil War, was captured at the battle of Bluffington Island, Ohio, and held prisoner at Camp Douglas, IL, where he died. (See his link below)

She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Darling H & Matilda (Nelson) McGlathery. Her paternal grandparents were Russell & Elizabeth (Lowe) Nobles. Her great grandparents were Thomas & Sarah Nobles, William & Elizabeth Lowe, and Samuel & Martha McGlathery, all from South Carolina.

Mary Susan Nobles married George Washington Sizemore on 9 Mar 1876 in Blount Co. They were the parents of 12 children. Their 1st child, Mollie Virginia, was born on 8 Feb 1877 and died on 1 Aug 1882. "The Girls" said she is buried in an old church yard north of Cullman. That location might be Mt Zion where some of the McGlathery family are buried. The only other child not buried at New Hope #2, is Benjamin Columbus, who is buried at New Bethel Baptist Church in DeKalb Co AL.
