He died as he lived, A Christian
-------------------------------------
A lengthy obituary printed in the November 22, 1918 (pg 1) edition of The Ava Citizen described Mr. Bone as ex-mayor of Ava (Illinois), a leading citizen and stockman of the community.
Apparently he was stricken with a heart attack as he walked across a pasture accompanied by Noah Bagwill (who also owned the pasture). Mr. Bagwill immediately went to Mr. Bone's aid, but Mr. Bone died in the man's arms.
"F. E. Bone attended the home school at Tock Cree, also went to college in Lincoln, Illinois three years --- 19872-1876. His health beginning to fail he went to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and lived there one year. He then returned to Rock Creek and engage din farming and stock raising until his removal to Ava in 1902. Here he engaged in the stock business, devoting most of his time to the raising and shipping of hogs. He was a good judge of swine, probably the best in Southern Illinois, and raised some fancy Chester Whites. He secured many valuable premiums exhibiting them at Illinois State Fairs and International Live Stock Shows."
