Frances Romano-Venturini-Forsstrom STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A Native Staten Islander Frances Forsstrom, 80, of Berkeley Township, N.J., a former nurse, died Saturday while traveling on a cruise ship returning home from her birthday celebration in Bermuda. Born Frances Romano in South Beach, Mrs. Forsstrom settled in Berkeley Township in 1977. There She graduated from New Dorp High School and received a certificate from the Willowbrook School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for several years at the former Willowbrook State School, where she worked with handicapped children for many years. Afterwards, she worked for five years at the Silver Lake Nursing Home in Brighton Heights and also worked as a private-duty nurse for the former New York City Welfare Department. She retired in 1976. Mrs. Forsstrom was a member of United Health Care Workers Union 1199 and belonged to the Pinelands Reformed Church, Toms River, N.J., where she was a member of the SoSo Club. Mrs. Forsstrom enjoyed crocheting baby clothing sets and blankets for family members and friends.She enjoyed spending time with family. Her husband, Sven, died in February. Her son, Anthony Venturini, died in 1998. She was a giving woman and had a big heart,said her son, John Venturini. Along with her son, John, surviving are six grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday from the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Toms River, with a service at 10 a.m. in the Pinelands Reformed Church. Entombment will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park, TomsRiver.
