for Peru Seaman
Services for Seaman recruit James J. Antkowiak, 18, will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru. The Rev. Victor Henkel will officiate. Burial will be in the Peru City Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Great Lake Naval Training Station.
Visitation is set for Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Antkowiak is the son of Paul and Lois (Lijewski) Antkowiak of 1910 10th St., Peru. He died Feb. 16 on the Greek island of Crete. He was serving aboard the U.S.S. R.K. Turner guided missile cruiser.
Antkowiak was born Feb. 19, 1965, in La Salle. He graduated from La Salle-Peru High School in 1983.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Jeffrey of Peoria and Craig at home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John (Colette) Antkowiak of Peru; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. George (Helen) Rubatt of La Salle.
