On December 9, 1843, Lydia Stone, widow of William Stone, and James McCain signed a pre-nuptial contract in Talladega County, Alabama. They were to be married "in a few days."

James died ca 1844-50 and is said to be buried in an unmarked grave in the Olive Branch Cemetery near Lineville, Alabama.

According to some McCain descendants, Lydia died about 1846 at Crooked Creek near Lineville, and was also buried Olive Branch Cemetery. This is likely incorrect.

Actually she married her third husband Reuben Lee about 1846, as verified by the probate records (final settlement) of William Stone. 1850 Randolph Co. census show Lydia and Reuben Lee and two of her Stone children and again with Reuben in the 1860 census in Marshall Co., AL.
