HILDA MARIE STARRY
Hilda Marie Starry, 77, of Lin, died Saturday, August 1, 1897, at the Mechanicsville Care Center.
She was born July 17, 1910, at Olin, the daughter of Clarence and Ida Kreger Glick. She attended school in the Olin area.
September 6, 1927, she married Melvern C. Starry at Maquoketa.
She lived in the Onslow area for a brief time, then returned to the Olin area where she lived until moving to the Mechanicsville Care Center in 1981.
Hilda was a member of the Olin Friendship Club, the Canasta Club, the Blayney Miner, 412 American Legion Auxiliary, and was active in other church and community affairs until her health failed.
Surviving are one daughter of Marion; one son of Olin; three half-brothers, of Cheyenne, of Las Vegas, Nev; and of Monmouth; two half-sisters of Kansas City, MO., one step-sister of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one half-brother, and one daughter.
Funeral services were held August 4, 1987, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Olin, with the Rev. Douglas Tharpe officiating. Burial was in the Olin Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Gapinski, James Glick Leo Petersen, Stuart Ireland, Richard Luckstead, and Delbert Remington.
