A 30-year county resident coming from Hemet, Calif. Eusebio was born Aug. 14, 1912, in Ballinger, Texas, to Masedona and Roario Martinez. He was their second of three sons. Eusebio worked on the railroads in the 1920s, he was a farmer and a field machine operator. He developed a conveyer belt that built systems for the farming industry. After his retirement from farming, Eusebio started his own gardening business, which he owned and operated for 10 years.

Eusebio enjoyed playing many types of card games, including blackjack, which was his favorite. He was a very mechanical man who enjoyed working on cars and gardening. He attended church at San Buenaventura Mission for many years. Eusebios family was his life. He would include them in all that he did.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Pilar Martinez; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Tracy Martinez, and Eusebio Jr. and Marie Martinez; granddaughters, Elaina and Jessica Martinez, all of Ventura; and brothers, Andreas Martinez of Shafter and Paul Martinez of Bakersfield.
