She was born May 8, 1924 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Frank and Carrie (Schull) Adam. Nellie was a 1942 graduate of Shelby High School, and retired from the Shelby City Schools where she had been secretary to the superintendent. After her retirement, she worked at the Shelby "Y" front desk. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed flower gardening.
Nellie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to: her husband, Bert Lorentz, whom she wed on September 10, 1950; daughter, Jean Ann Blake of Zanesville, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Letha Lorentz of Nashville, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers and 4 sisters-in-law: Roger and Katie Adam of Shelby, Raymond Adam of Seattle, Washington, Betty Adam of Alabama, Dode Adam of Mason, Ohio, and Geraldine "Jerry" Adam of Mansfield.
She was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Roscoe, Richard, Ford, Russell and Milton (Jack) Adam.
Calling hours will not be observed. Memorial services will be held 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2002 at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, with Rev. Steven C. Bond officiating.
