From his obituary, published in The Louisburg Herald, Thursday, March 18, 1943.

Son of Archibold and Emmaline Borders. Born October 6, 1861 in Paintsville, Kentucky.

With his parents, he moved to Spring Hill, Kansas at the age of seven. Married Ida Fessenden on March 16, 1884. She preceded him in death on January 28, 1940.

Mr. Borders was a retired R.F.D mail carrier. He was one of the first mail carriers to use the automobile in place of horses.

Funeral services were conducted March 15th at the Louisburg Methodist Church by Rev. E. J. Gardner with Rev. Lynn H. Rupert of Central Avenue Methodist Church, Kansas City, Kansas delivering the address. Pallbearers were former and present postal employees Elmer Hart, Neal Sloan, Hugh Lee, E. V. Lee, Mike Connor and Adna White.

Burial was in the Louisburg cemetery.
