George Walker McAlister was born in Hector, Pope County, Arkansas March 17, 1922. He was next to the youngest of 12 children total. His Brothers and sisters called Him "GW" or "dub" Denied Military service by all branches during WWII due to hernias, later diagnosed with Congenital heart defect (Bundle Branch Block) in California.
Traveled to several states as young man, with older Brother(s). Met Barbara Keith in Los Angeles California 1949. Married January 1, 1950. Moved to Brattleboro Vermont August 1955 traveling across country in 1950 Ford with Stops to visit relatives in Utah and Arkansas. Obtained L.P.N. Nursing License around 1959. Worked at Brattleboro Retreat as Psychiatric Nurse late 1950's to 1968, then worked shipping department at Brattleboro Book Press. From about 1970 on drove taxi due to chronic back problems. Owned and operated "Grampy's Cab" from 1978 to death.
He had a passion for both hunting and fishing.
Heart PaceMaker implanted around 1973.
Two Sons, Robert (B 1950 - D 2007) and Dennis (B 1955)
Died suddenly 10:30 AM, December 6, 1983 at home, Brattleboro Vermont (Cardiac arrest) age 61.
Buried in Keith Family Plot, Pleasant View Cemetery in Morristown Vermont.
