Additional information was taken from U.S. Census enumerations for 1880 (with parents and siblings in Lumberton, Robeson, North Carolina) and 1910 (widowed, living with parents, brother, and two daughters in Moultrie, Colquitt, Georgia;) and July 25, 1912 issue of the Lumberton, North Carolina newspaper, The Robesonian ("Mrs. Lena McPhaul and little daughters, of Moultrie, Ga., are visiting relatives in and around Fairmont. Mrs. McPhaul is pleasantly remembered as Miss Lena Lewis of Lumberton.")
