John Cole Bates was born October 10, 1934 at Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of John Clarence and Laura Bickle Bates. John passed away Wednesday August 1st, 2012 at his home in Mounds, Oklahoma. He was 77 years of age.
John grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Central school.
John and Shirley Ann Stacey were united in marriage on August 6, 1955 at Alsuma, OK. They moved to Mounds, Oklahoma in 1975.
John was a truck driver with Butler Paper for12 years, retiring in 1999.
He greatly enjoyed music which he both wrote and taught. He also enjoyed reading, horses & spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David and two sisters: Eileen and Betty
John is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home.
Two sons:
Randy Bates and his wife Kelly of Mounds, Oklahoma
Stacy Lee Bates and his wife Leslie of Bixby, Oklahoma
One daughter:
Sheila Hill and her husband Charlie of Mounds, Oklahoma
Eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
