Beulah E. Bales Williams was born November 16, 1902 the only daughter of David Levi and Estella Powell Bales of Eminence, MO. Beulah Estella Bales Williams passed from this life January 18, 1988 at her home in the Willow West Apartments of Willow Springs, MO at the age of 85 years. A resident of Shannon County most of her life, Beulah graduated from Eminence High School, Class of 1920. She was joined in marriage to Marion Freeman Williams on July 22, 1922 in Jefferson City, MO; to this union four children were born, Ruth Ann, David Rose, Carolyn Elizabeth, and Jeff Davis Williams. Beulah and Freeman enjoyed 43 years of marriage until his sudden death in July of 1965. A believer all her life, Beulah was a member of the Christian Church of West Eminence, she also attended the Christian Church of Mountain View, then later became a member of the Methodist Church of Mountain View. Beulah claimed a deep and abiding faith in her God. Never idle, Beulah pursued many talents and interests. She was a Member In Good Standing of the Order of the Eastern Star, Current River Chapter #239 of Eminence, MO. She also took pride in being a chapter member (since 1931) of the N.T.W. Club of Eminence. Beulah also enjoyed membership in the Extension Clubs of Eminence and Mountain View, the Garden Club of Mountain View, and served on the Eminence Library Board. Always amazed at the miracle of growing things, Beulah gardened with a passion. Her canned goods and plants of all kinds were well-known and a life long pleasure to her. Many friends and relatives will remember Beulah by her handiwork. The quilts, braided rugs, and afghans she made are treasured by all. An advocate of worthwhile endeavors, Beulah was a fine example of organized industriousness. She will be remembered for her wit, generousity, and for her gentle and loving nature. Preceding her in death were her parents, six brothers, her husband, Freeman, and her first born infant, Ruth Ann. Survivors include three children and their spouses, David Rose and Scott Reed of Mountain View, MO; Carolyn and Fred Schlitz of St. Helen, OR; and Jeff and Elaine Williams of Springfield, MO; ten grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. We are comforted with the knowledge that all was right with her. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 20 at 10 am in the Duncan Funeral Chapel at Eminence with Rev. Charles Millner officiating. Interment was in New Eminence Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home of Eminence.
