John W. Gelder, 91, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the Bath VA Medical Center.

"He retired from Mercury Aircraft as a tool engineer. He served in the Army in WWII, and was a purple Heart recipient. He was an avid chess player, golfer and fisherman. One of his greatest loves was riding his motorcycle. He was a loving husband, father and
grandfather."

He was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Joyce Gelder, his son Barry Gelder of Colorado Springs, his sisters Evelyn Beeman and Florence Gelder Weiderman.

He is survived by his son Robert (Tammie) Gelder of Bath, NY., daughter-in-law Susan Gelder of Colorado Springs, his sister Wilma Gelder McKee of PA., 3 grandchildren, Craig (Kim) Gelder of Bradford, NY., Lea (Nate) Goodness of Palmyra, NY., and Phillip Gelder of Colorado Springs and several great grandchildren.

There was graveside service with full military honors in Grove Cemetery.
