Frances Benson Powell, 94 years young, peacefully passed away of natural causes surrounded by her loving family on July 29, 2012 at her home in Washington, Utah.

Frances was the first of five children born to Aaron Conrad and Fannie Lucherini Benson on December 31, 1917 in Preston, Idaho. Her father came in a horse drawn sleigh to take her to their home in Weston, ID. As a young child the family moved to Weiser, ID to help on the Benson family dairy farm. She met her sweetheart, Doyle Russell at a dance social and after a beautiful courtship they were married in Weise, ID on February 27, 1935. A few months later they were sealed for Time and Eternity in the L.D.S. Logan Temple on July 5, 1935. To this union nine children were born: Donald Russell Powell, Robert Neal Powell (spouse Olga Neimi), Bruce Dee Powell (spouse Barbara Belcher), Cheryl Lorraine Powell (spouse David Olmstead), Alan Blake Powell (spouse Antoinette Cawley), Nicki Yvonne Powell (spouse Chris Christensen), Angela Jean Powell, Janice Lee Powell (spouse Edward Hamilton) and Gary Doyle Powell (spouse KaLynn Hager).

As a successful Building Contractor, the Powell family lived in many beloved places including: Weiser, ID; Springfield, OR; Eugene, OR; Princeville, Or; Bend, OR; Federal Way, WA; Des Moines, WA; and finally Bozeman, MT where Doyle passed away on August 31, 1996. She then moved to Layton, UT where she lived among her family and friends for ten years before moving down to St. George, UT for the remaining six years of her life in the loving care of her daughter Cheryl and family.

Frances was a faithful and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many wonderful callings including Branch, Ward, District and Stake Relief Society presidencies, "Primary Marm," and numerous teaching positions in Sunday School, MIA, always with a smile and well studied approach. Frances and Doyle served a mission to Gassaway, West Virginia, a 27 month Stake Mission to LaPine, OR and built a LDS Church house in Ridegway, PA. Throughout their marriage, missionaries were always welcome and were served many a delicious meal. She especially loved her callings as a Temple worker in the Portland, OR and the St. George, UT temples. Frances was multi-talented and fashioned many handmade clothing items, crocheted, knitted and embroidered creations, loved to cook, bake and to make her home beautiful, spotless, warm and inviting. She loved music and excelled at the piano and singing. Many friends and acquaintances would describe her as: loving, soft spoken, charitable, compassionate, always looking for the good in others, never saying an unkind word and living by the Golden Rule. Throughout her life with Doyle, they were forever finding others to "adopt" into her already large family. She truly loved all she met unconditionally.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle and oldest son, Donald Russell who died August 13, 2006. Frances is survived by all children and spouses listed above, plus 43 grandchildren, 127 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and through her diligence has instilled in her posterity that "Families Are Forever".

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Chapel, Main St., Weiser, ID, August 11, 2012 with a viewing at 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and services at 10:00 a.m. Interment at the Hillcrest Cemetery following services.
