Elmere M. Topper, 70, or rural Verona, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2001, at the U.W. Hospital in Madison.
Elmere was born May 7, 1931, in rural Albany, to Palmer and Mabel (Hauge) Gordon.
Elmere Gordon married Wesley D. Topper September 11, 1948, in Mount Horeb.
Elmere worked at the former Prange Store for 15 years. She loved her family, taking care of the children, cooking, canning, sewing and gardening. She also loved to collect bells. She was a member of the Mt. Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Wesley; her children, Gary (Jane) Topper of Mount Horeb, Gail (John) Fahey of Belleville, Vicki Hughes of Mount Horeb, David Topper of Cazenovia, Jeanne Cona of Missouri, Steven (Beth) Topper of Barneveld, Janeen (Ken) Lowe of Mount Horeb; her adopted grandson, Kiefer Topper at home; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald (Kathleen) Gordon of Mount Horeb, Verlyn (Jeanne) Gordon of Canyon Country, CA, and Dale (Kay) Gordon of Davis, SD.
Elmere was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Lori J. Topper.
Funeral services were on Monday, August 13, 2001, at Mt. Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial at the Mt. Horeb Union Cemetery.
