Richard Lee "Rick" Peden, Jr., age 37, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005 in Gulfport. He was born in Hattiesburg, MS on April 25, 1968 and had been a resident of Gulfport for many years.

Mr. Peden was the co-owner of Med South and was an active volunteer with Make A Wish Foundation, the Salvation Army Board of Directors, and Feed My Sheep. He was associated with St. Thomas Catholic in Long Beach.

Mr. Peden was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Richard Lee Peden; his grandfather, Bazil Noble, Jr.; his grandmother, Genevieve Peden; and his uncle, Eddie Peden.

Rick is survived by his mother and step-father, Penny and Larry Loveless; his step-mother, Alva Peden; two sisters, Ashley Peden Kremer and Alva Leigh Peden; one brother, William A. Peden, II; one niece, Sophie Peden Kremer; one nephew, Fisher Noble Kremer; grandparents, Mrs. Bazil Noble, Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. William A. Peden; aunts and uncles, Sandra and Steve Fredericks, Kay Noble, John and Julie Noble, Peggy and Don Sprabery, Bobby and Melissa Peden; and eight cousins. Rick is also survived by a strong circle of faithful friends whom he loved and cherished dearly. Friends and family meant the world to Ricky and the world will be a better place because of the 37 years he was here on earth.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 10, 2005 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport with Father Louis Lohan officiating. Friends may visit one hour before the Mass at the church. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.

The family prefers memorials to any of Rick's three favorite charities in lieu of flowers. The Sun Herald prints death notices free of charge as a public service, and obituaries for which a charge is billed through the funeral home. The Sun Herald also publishes the American flag symbol as a free service to honor veterans.
