Ella Zill

Mrs. Elsa Zill, 88, a former Town of Centerville resident, died Saturday at the Morningside Nursing Home in Sheboygan, where she had resided the past five years.

She was born Feb. 5, 1899, in Sheboygan, a daughter of the late Oscar and Frieda Bull Wilke.

On May 1, 1920, she married Hilbert E. Zill. The couple resided in Newton, where they were farmers. Mr. Zill died in May 1974.

She continued living on the homestead farm until 1982, when she moved to the Morningside Nursing Home.

Mrs. Zill was a member of Ss. John and Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, the Ladies Aid Society of the church, and the Cleveland Senior Citizens.

Survivors include three sons, Edward of Cleveland, Adrian of Howards Grove and Richard of Newton; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (LaVerne) Scharenbroch of Newton; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ss. John and Pete Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, with the Rev. Glenn H. Unke, pastor of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manitowoc, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Johannes Cemetery in Cleveland.

Friends may call at the Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel in Cleveland from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and at the church from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
