Ruth Virginia Liska (nee Hartman) born October 1st, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, began eternal life on August 11, 2010. She was the life partner of Frank Peter Liska. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Emily Hartman (nee Bachman), brother, Thomas Hartman and brother-in-law, Cyril Liska.

Ruth was the beloved mother of David (Wendy) of Waukesha, WI, Janet (Ronald) Eckstein of Rhinelander, WI, and Robert (Karen) of Houston, TX. She was the proud grandmother of five, Nicole, Zachary, Andrew, Bryan and Julie. Sister-in-law of Agnes Liska and Dorothy Hartman, and dear friend of Vernelle Brooks.

Ruth graduated from Rufus King High School. For many years she was a nurse for Dr. Ervin L. Bernhart in Milwaukee, while raising her family. Ruth had many close friends in Milwaukee and had fond memories of the "card club". She loved gardening and received great enjoyment from her flower gardens.

Ruth was an active member of the Equitable Reserve Association (ERA) right up until her death. Her grandfather was one of the founding members of the organization and she took great pride in continuing the fraternal tradition. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, always planning the next big meal.

She and her husband have been retired and living in the Boulder Junction area for the past 30 years. Here she loved watching and listening to the loons, hummingbirds, orioles and other birds that gathered at their feeders. Retirement enabled both Ruth and Frank to be active in local community organizations such as the Lions and the American Legion.

Visitation for Ruth will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder Junction, WI. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder Junction with the Reverend D.J. Dominkowski officiating. Interment will be in the Cemetery of the Pines in Boulder Junction.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Boulder Junction Volunteer Firefighters and EMT Squad that provided Ruth with such considerate care would be appreciated. The Carlson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the Liska family.
