Daughter of Hiram Wilson & Mandane E. Lowther Wilson. Married Moses Hoffman VanHorn July 7, 1896 Salem, Harrison County, West Virginia.

From "The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 136, No 26, p 324, June 26, 1944. Metta Wilson VanHorn, daughter of Hiram and Mandane Lowther Wilson, was born July 27, 1871, at Berea, Ritchie County, W. Va., and died at Salem, W. Va., March 26, 1944. She was married to Moses Hoffman Van Horn July 7, 1896. Mr. Van Horn, former dean of Salem College, died in December, 1933. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Homer May; one adopted son, William H.; one sister, Mrs. Laura Randolph; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Van Horn was a lifelong member of the Salem Seventh Day Baptist Church. She was a woman of fine Christian character, active in the church, community, and college interests - as long as health permitted. Funeral services were conducted by Pastor James L. Skaggs.
