Professional Wrestler. A state champion in amateur wrestling, Gene Anderson trained for professional wrestling with Verne Gagne and debuted in 1958. During the '60s, he worked for Gagne's promotion, the American Wrestling Association (AWA). There, he formed the Minnesota Wrecking Crew with fellow wrestler Lars Anderson, who was billed as Gene's brother, and they won several tag team championships with their technical style. After Lars left for Hawaii, Gene found a new partner in Ole Anderson, continuing to win gold and feuding with top teams including Greg Valentine and Ric Flair. He also managed several wrestlers until retiring in 1985 to run a wrestling school with Nelson Royal.
