He was the son of the late Edward A and Maggie M (Major) Apgar.
He was the husband of the former Jennie (Schulte) Apgar.
Horace was a metallurgist and materials engineer of Ingersoll-Rand Company from 1919 when the metallurgist department was formed until 1963 when he retired. He was employed at Ingersoll-Rand for 50 years. He specialzid in the research, development and control of the heating treatment of materials for rock drills ,hollow drill steel and assiociated mining machinery .He joined the company in 1913.
For many years Mr Apgar was a musician and was instrumental in the I-R Band and Orchestra during World War1 with the late John Davis as director.
During World War 11 he was a sector air raid warden on College Hill.
He was a member of St.Johns Lutheran Church.
Survivors;His widow,two sons Horace V Jr of Oklahoma,and Kenneth D of Pa, and three grandchildren.
