The Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life Service for Gary A. Arendt will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 3rd, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, MN with Father Joseph P. Pete officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bellechester, MN.

Mr. Arendt, 58, of Lake City, MN died Tuesday afternoon, July 31, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Nursing Home in Lake City, MN.

Gary Arthur Arendt was born May 15, 1954 in Red Wing, MN to Clarence and Cecilia (Reiland) Arendt. He grew up on the family farm in rural Mazeppa, MN and attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Bellechester, MN, and the Special Needs Schools in Oak Center and Millville, MN. Most of Gary's adult lifetime was spent in Lake City, MN. Gary worked at ProAct Industries in Red Wing, MN for 35 years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City and was a passionate Minnesota Viking Fan.

Gary is survived by three sisters, Patricia (Dr. Richard) Heilman of Horseshoe Bay, TX, Nancy (James) Carnago of Romeo, MI, and Mary Kalu of Ypsilanti, MI; seven brothers, David (Susan) Arendt of Middletown, WI, Donald (Phyllis) Arendt of Decorah, IA, Robert (Sally) Arendt of Winlock, WA, William (Linda) Arendt of Wabasha, MN, Timothy Arendt of Lake City, MN, Mark (Kathi) Arendt and Anthony "Tony" (Rene) Arendt both of Mazeppa, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank the community of Lake City and Great River Homes Staff for their kindness and compassion in embracing Gary and caring for him. A special thanks to his best friends, Linda, Cheryl, and Bob for their friendship.

Friends and family may visit from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2nd, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel in Lake City, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to Great River Homes, Inc.
