Mrs. Shirley Marie Ashbaugh Sanders, 66, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington.
She was the wife of Robert E. Sanders Sr.
Born Nov. 15, 1935, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Edna Mae Ketterman Ashbaugh.
She was musically oriented, played the piano, organ and guitar, and enjoyed singing country/western music. She also liked needlepoint and was devoted to her two dogs.
Surviving in addition to her husband is one sister, Patricia Baker and husband Kenneth of Emmitsburg; one brother, Charles Ashbaugh and wife Patricia of St. Cloud, Fla.; and eight children, Bambi Lynne Leatherman and husband Samuel C. of Myersville, William John Peddicord Jr., Charles A. Young and Rodney S. Young, all of Thurmont, Brenda Gatten and husband William, and Theresa Brennan and husband Thomas, all of Waynesboro, Pa., Robert E. Sanders Jr. and wife Karen of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Crystal Ambush and husband Marcus of Frederick; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She also will be remembered by her friend, Margaret Filardo.
Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Peddicord.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home with the Rev. James A. Coblentz, of Pioneer Baptist Church, Thurmont, officiating.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
