Norman was the president of M. L. Carle and Company; chairman of the board of J. M. Bostwick and Sons; director of the First National Bank; director of the Bostwick Realty Company and president of the Howe Timber Company. For more than 20 years he served as a member of the Mercy Hospital board of directors. He was a charter member of the Janesville Rotary Club and the Janesville Country Club. A member of the Episcopal Church, he was a member of the Christ Church vestry for a number of years. He also was a member of the Elks and was a past president of the Wisconsin Leaf Tobacco, having been in the tobacco business for over 50 years. Norm married Marion Bostwick in 1893 and he died August 21, 1941, in Janesville, at the age of 71.
