Funeral services were set for 4:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Tennessee Colony and burial will take place there.
Deceased was a brother of Mrs. Will A. Wofford of Athens and also had a number of other relatives residing here. He was well known in Athens where he had frequently visited. He was a member of the Christian church.
Mr. Avant was a World War veteran.
He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. M.S. Avant; one sister, Mrs. Wofford and one brother, Sam Avant of Missouri. He also had a number of half sisters and brothers.
Among those attending the funeral from Athens were Postmaster and Mrs. E.L. Watson and son, John Lynn and Mrs. Jettie Hodge. His sister, Mrs. Wofford, went to Tennessee Colony Monday afternoon after receipt of news of his death.
