Betty Caylor, 84, died Monday Feb. 5, 2007 in Bellingham, Washington. She was a loving wife and mother, and caregiver to her husband as he struggled with ALS until his death in 1974.

Betty was born April 17, 1922 in Babcock to James R. and Gena (Boden) Bowden. Survivors include two children, nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded by her husband (1974) and son Robert (2000), four sisters and three brothers. A family gathering will be held at a later date, and the family requests any memorial gifts to the ALS Wisconsin Chapter, 2505 North 124th Street, Brookfield, WI 53005.

She personally cared for her husband Neil in the home as he struggled with ALS until his death in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her son Robert in 2000, four sisters and three brothers. She is survived by son Jon (wife Mary) Caylor of Schofield, WI, daughter Kathryn Caylor (husband William Kern) of Bellingham, WA, grandchildren Amy, David, Steven and Neil Caylor, David (wife Julien) Kern, Kimberly (husband David) Kuborn, Kerry (husband Michael) Reilly, Kelly (husband Ed) Slayton and Katie Burns, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, sisters-in-law Dorothy Knuth and Dorothy Bowden, brother-in-law Arnold (wife Donna) Caylor, numerous nieces and nephews, many kind friends in Ashippun, WI and her new and caring friends in Bellingham, WA. Memorials may be made to ALS Wisconsin Chapter, 2505 N. 124th St., Brookfield, WI 53005. A family gathering will be held in Wisconsin at a later date. Published in the Hartford Courant on 2/10/2007.
