Philander Williams was the ninth child of twelve born to his
parents Henry Williams (1781-1837) & Mary B Williams
(1784-1860) in Nash County North Carolina. Sometime after
1829 Philander, the Williams family & other families left
North Carolina and moved west and south to Ala. This is
based on the marriage records of his sister Morning Williams
(1810-1905) who married Dec 15 1829 in Greene Ala. The
marriage of brother Garrett Williams (1808-1850) to Nancy
Winbourn Feb 25 1936 in Alabama. Then the death of brother
Orrin Williams (1804-1836) on Apr 17 1836 in Alabama.
And that of his father Henry Williams on Jan 18 1837 in
Pickens, Alabama. Some members of the Williams family had
moved on to Rankin County MS by this time. Brother Henderson
Williams (1812-1899) had married Emily Wofford on Sept 22
1835 in Rankin County, MS.

Now by the 1840s Philander, his mother Mary B Williams and
others, were now in Rankin County Mississippi. Some would
move on west to Texas, but Philander had married
Susan B Williams Jones before 1843. Date & place is unknown.

Here, Susan and Philander would live, raise there family,
and be buried in the Williams Cemetery. He died on 28 Mar
1864 from wounds he received while in battle during the
Civil War after returning home.

The known children of Susan & Philander Williams:

Nancy L Williams was born on May 10 1844 in Rankin County,
Mississippi. She died on Oct 18 1847. (Buried here in
Williams Family Cemetery, Rankin, County, MS)

Mollie A Williams was born on 26 May 1848 in MS. She died
on 05 Oct 1914 in Rankin Co. MS (Buried in Shiloh Cemetery,
Rankin Co. MS).

Susan Mae Williams was born about 1846. She married Ellis
Hightower "Hite" Gresham on 21 Dec 1870 in Rankin Co. MS.
Death date unknown. (Buried here in Williams Family
Cemetery, Rankin, County, MS)

Catherine Adela Williams was born on 20 Nov 1850 in Rankin
County, Mississippi. She married Wyatt Curtis Webster
KERSH on 04 Nov 1871 in Rankin County, Mississippi. She died on 01 Jan 1943 in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee. (Buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis)


Henry Pierce Williams was born on 13 Oct 1852 in MS,
He married Anna Alice Watkins on 10 Jan 1878 in Rankin CO.
MS. He died on 25 Jun 1890 in Rankin Co. MS (Buried in
Shiloh Cemetery, Rankin Co. MS).

Martha Cornelia Williams was born on 28 Jul 1855 in Rankin
County, MS. She died on 14 Jun 1928 in Rankin Co. MS
(Buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Rankin, County, MS).

P. Henderson Williams was born in Feb 1856 in Rankin County,
Mississippi. He died on 29 Jan 1943 in Rankin Co. MS
(Buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Rankin County, MS)

Samuel Robert Williams was born 18 Dec 1860 in Rankin County
MS. He married Lura Huberta Darnell. He died on 26 Feb 1950
in Rankin Co. MS (Buried in Brandon Cemetery, Brandon,Rankin
County,Mississippi)
