It is believed that Mahala is buried with her husband, James McCord, in the McCord Cemetery. At Jakes Run turn onto Route 20, go 1.3 miles on the dirt road. The cemetery is on the left on the hill. There are at least two unmarked graves here.

Mahala married James McCord on June 27, 1845. He is the son of Robert McCord, she is the daughter of Adam B. Tennant and Sarah Baldwin. James McCord served in Company H, 17th WV Infantry, Civil War.
