He worked in a carnival where he met his wife, Coma McLemore in Texarcana, Ark. They were married within 24 hours of meeting and he moved to her hometown in Trenton, Tenn. They moved to Chicago in the mid 1940's where Clarence went to work for the Illinois Central Railroad. He worked there until his death in 1957.
He is survived by his wife, Coma, his daughters Carolyn and Polly, 4 brothers (Fritz, George, Floyd and Arnold) and 2 sisters (Katherine and Loretta).
