"WEST EDMESTON - Emeliza Pardee, daughter of Linus and Betsy Alcott Pardee, died at her home in West Edmeston on July 5th, in the 84th year of her age. She was born in Oriskany Falls, July 24th, 1843. The family moved to West Edmeston when she was a small child and almost her entire life has been spent here, where she was beloved by all ... In her death the church has lost its oldest member, and she was the last of her immediate family, with the exception of her nephew, Lynn C. Maxson of Old Forge. Her sister, Mrs. Adelaide Searle, who made her home with her, passed away less than three months ago, and since then she has been tenderly cared for by Miss Amelia White of Earlville and during the past few days of her intense suffering, her nephew and his family have been constantly at her bed-side, ministering to her every need. She was a lovable character and faithful Christian, trusting in Him, in whom she believed, and her sweet and gentle nature will be sadly missed by a host of friends here ... she was laid to rest in the village cemetery."
