Frank Peter Liska
March 18, 1917 - January 08, 2011
Boulder Junction, Wisconsin

Frank Peter Liska, age 93, began eternal life on Saturday, January 8, 2011.

He was born on March 18, 1917, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Frank and Mary (Radler) Liska. Frank graduated from Milwaukee North Division High School. Before the war, he worked in Men's Wear at Schuster's/Gimbels Department Store.

Frank was an Army veteran who proudly served his country in Europe during World War II as a Master Sergeant in the medical corps; enlisting with his life-long friend, Dan Shupe. After returning from service, he was employed by Gettelman Brewing and later Miller Brewing in Milwaukee.

Frank was known for his puns, keen wit, and dry sense of humor. He was a highly regarded baseball player in the Milwaukee area, and concluded his baseball career with the "old timers" league in Boulder Junction, WI.

Frank was an active member of the Equitable Reserve Association (ERA) serving on the auditing committee and retiring from its Board of Directors. Frank and his wife, Ruth, had been retired and living on a lake in Boulder Junction for the past 30 years.

In retirement, Frank took up painting and woodworking and took great pleasure in creating gifts for friends and family. He loved watching the birds that gathered at their feeders and captured many of them in oil paints. He enjoyed golfing with friends and was always willing to forgive an extra Mulligan on the course.

Retirement enabled Frank to be active in local community organizations such as the Lions and American Legion.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Liska; his wife of 64 years, Ruth Virginia Liska (nee Hartman); and a brother, Cyril Liska.

Frank is the beloved father of David (Wendy) Liska of Waukesha, WI, Janet (Ronald) Eckstein of Rhinelander, and Robert (Karen) Liska of Houston, TX.

He was the proud grandfather of five, Nicole, Zachary, Andrew, Bryan, and Julie. Brother-in-law of Agnes Liska and Dorothy Hartman. Uncle to Tom (Carol) Hartman and Susan (Bill) Clemons.

Funeral services for Frank will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder Junction with the Reverend D.J. Dominkowski officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 12:30 PM until just prior to the services at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boulder Junction. Interment will be in the Cemetery of the Pines.
