Sliger, Marlene Elizabeth Baker Age 74, passed away after a 2 year battle with cancer, at home, in Richardson TX, on December 26, 2008. She was a homemaker, a caring mother and grandmother, and a loving wife. Marlene was born in Liberty, NE. on March 8, 1934 to Abram and Velma Baker, moving to Beatrice, NE, at a young age. After graduating high school, she married Richard Sliger on October 15, 1952, at the First Christian Church, Beatrice. She moved with Richard to Virginia in 1953, where he was stationed in the Navy. She was employed as a court recorder and secretary for civil service. In 1956 she returned to Lincoln, NE, with Richard where he attended school. After graduation Richard's job moved them to Richardson in 1961. In Richardson they joined the First Christian Church, and to complete their family, adopted Karen Michele in 1962 and Michael Scott in 1965. Marlene enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping, and playing games with friends and family. Marlene is survived by her loving husband Richard, her children Karen (Harold Messias Jr.) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Mike of Richardson, TX. She is also survived by sister, Beverly (Dick) Svoboda, of Gold Canyon, AZ, and brother Larry (Carolyn) Baker of Springfield, VA. Also surviving are her granddaughters Kylie (17) and Elizabeth (14) of Colorado Springs. Visitation Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, from 6-8PM at Restland. Memorial services at 1:30PM Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 at United Disciples Christian Church, 601 E. Main, Richardson.
