WAS LEADER IN HER COMMUNITY
Chaonia and other Wayne county communities were saddened Saturday of last week when it became known that Minnie Catherine Alexander, wife of M. M. Alexander, prominent citizen and form Representative, passed to her eternal reward in the Poplar Bluff hospital, following a lingering illness during which she fought bravely, but in vain, against the dread disease cancer.

Although her passing was not unexpected, nevertheless it cast a pall of sadness over the community of Chaonia and in Wayne county, where she had spent her entire life, except a few short periods when away and during the last months when away in quest of health.

Minnie Catherine Alexander was born March 18, 1880, at Clubb, the daughter of Britton Ward and Emiline Miles Ward. She was united in marriage in September 1902 to M. M. Alexander. Two children were born of this marriage, Vern Alexander of Stillwater, Okla, a government service employee, and Roy Lee Alexander at home. These with the husband survive. Mrs. Alexander was the last member of her family.

The family resided in Chaonia during the last several years wehre Mrs. Alexander had engaged in the community affairs. she was postmistress at the time of her passing.
Mrs. Alexander was possessed of a fine personality and character that made her liked by all. She will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends and relatives. It is with deep regret that the many friends had to part with her, and their heartfelt sympathy is extended to the grief stricken family. May she rest in peace.

The funeral services were conducted at Clubb Sunday afternoon in the church with the Rev. Noel Twidwell, lifelong friend, officiating. Burial was in the Twidwell cemetery near Clubb, Leuckel Brothers of the Croy Funeral Home had charge of the funeral.
